Special Delivery v0.2.1 Patch Notes:

Story:

  • The start of chapter 2 has been added, up to and including the departure scene from Es’Anisthia.

Gameplay:

  • he outfit system for chapter 2 is now implemented, and allows Yshel to switch outfits at-will whenever the status screen is accessible. Outfits carry their own look for sprites, and also possess unique tags which will alter encounters accordingly. (Whilst fully functional, the first interaction with this system will only happen in the next update. v0.2.1 does not progress the story to a point where the status screen becomes available.)
  • The Sena encounter from chapter 1 now unlocks properly irregardless of choices made when first meeting her at the docks.

Extras:

  • The characters section of the codex has been updated with 2 new entries, though these are not yet unlockable!
  • Codex turntables for Yshel, Crelli, Ishura, and Des have been updated to the new staged format.
  • New renders for chapter 2 have been implemented into the gallery, though the new scenes with Ish are presently left out, as are the new sprites. I’m going to be doing a big clean-up of the gallery code soon, since non-1080p content is very messily implemented right now. Ish’s new renders will go in after that is done <3

Audio:

  • The docks music in Juniper has been swapped out for a new track for licensing reasons.

Visuals:

  • Crelli’s sprite library has been updated using her improved model.
  • Des’ sprite library has been updated using her improved model.
  • Sprites from chapter 2 and onward now make use of Colour Matrixes to better blend them into appropriate scenes.
  • Chapter title notifications have undergone a slight design cleanup.
  • Yshel has had 3 new sprites added to her libraries.
  • Some of Yshel’s sprites have been altered very slightly to improve pose readability and quality.

Bug Fixes:

  • Once again, more typo’s and punctual mistakes have been addressed.
    Re-iterated several loop functions to prevent possible traceback errors with rollback.
    A small image mix-up has been addressed for the chapter 1 button in the replay section of the gallery.
  • Under the hood:
    Several old or dis-used assets have been removed from the game directory to cut down on bloat.
    Several music tracks have been relabelled for better clarity on the development side.

Addendum:

  • Whilst this update isn’t overly long from end-to-end, it is quite wide, so to speak. There are a lot of branching variables from chapter 1, and I’ve tried to account for as many of them as possible to create believability in the narrative. Depending on prior choices made, some scenes can play out quite differently, and it’s creating all these extra possibilities that draws out the development time the most. In the updates to follow, there will not be so many immediate branching outcomes, which should help things come together a little bit faster <3

  • Hey everyone! I hope you’ve all had a nice week 😀 I’m as equally nervous as I am excited to announce that the first playable build for Special Delivery is ready, and I’m releasing it now to all tier 2 + 3 supporters! <3
  • For those unaware, SD is a visual novel type game project I’ve been working on for a while, though I’m doing my best to add a bit more complexity than just a standard VN, much of that isn’t in the playable build as of yet 😀 it’s set in my original IP of Aslithe, and will involve a lot of my original characters!
  • This project has been 14 months in the making so far, and for how long it’s been in development, this build is quite insubstantial in terms of length, but I hope you can enjoy what’s there and that it gives you a reasonable taste of what to expect from the project in future!
  • This is the first real build of the game, and I’ve only had a limited amount of testing done the past few days, so if anyone downloads and plays it, I would greatly appreciate any typo/bug reports! To install, just extract the contents of the .zip to a folder, and run the exe!
  • I should also point out, SD is more than likely not compatible with mobile devices, I haven’t tested it, but I would imagine everything breaks on mobile :d so stick to desktop or mac! Thank you all for supporting me long enough to enable this project! It’s without a doubt the biggest source of happiness in my life right now haha, never has a project been more creatively fulfilling for me <3 Please enjoy, and have a lovely weekend!
