Kotobawdy released a new game called Amakawa and the version is 0.1. The game’s story is about An adult RPG that happens to teach you Japanese. You start a new job at a company that owns a whole island across the bay from Japan, and you don’t speak a word of Japanese. The game teaches you the words you need to understand the people around you and get around, and you use them to progress, some as commands the island’s old machines only obey when you say them, others to follow what people are saying or to find the spicy content. On your first day a coworker teaches you (look) over a cat video before lunch, and after work you can use it to peek at things you probably shouldn’t. Day one takes about 20 minutes, and with Adult mode on there are seven scenes to find, two of them explicit.
More about day one You play Eric, an IT engineer from Norway, or Carina, and everyone on the island works for the same company and lives there too. Japanese you haven’t learned yet is blurred in both the text and the voices and clears up as you learn the words, and you can switch that off if you’re fine listening to Japanese full on. Mio from your team speaks English and has one monorail ride to teach you enough not to embarrass everyone, and by the end of the day she has noticed what the machines do for you and wants to know how. A run teaches you eleven words, and you can start with no Japanese at all.
With Adult mode on there are seven scenes to find during the day. Four are peeks at women you met that day, Emi in a coffee-soaked shirt after a meeting, Mio in the server room with the air conditioning off, Mio again on a bench after her bath, and the receptionist at closing time. At the security gate you get to watch the guard search a new hire, and that one plays as a video. After dark two couples leave a door open, one at the bath house and one in a clothes shop’s stockroom, and if you stay to watch those two are explicit, the stockroom one with its own song and a few pictures that move. You can’t sleep with anyone from the main cast yet, and everyone in the game is an adult.
