Den of Infamy [v0.5] By EFor

EFor Games released a new game called Den of Infamy and the version is 0.5. The game’s story is about The story of 19-year-old Kaley trying to become internet famous with the help of her hot family. The game revolves around the standard mechanic of gaining corruption to view new versions of scenes, but there are also scenes that will play out when certain criteria are met. Overall I just wanted to make an HTML game that has decent writing and more variation of content.

This update is Chapter 2 of the game. I decided to do a second chapter because I had this update nearly done a month ago in the same “grind” style as the rest of the game, but while testing it, I actually pissed myself off trying to get to the new content. The number of things that you had to repeat to get to new things got to a point of annoying and I honestly can’t stand that in this kind of game. I tried to then make the grind easier and the pacing got destroyed.

Then I broke the game trying to change the whole thing into the style of the 2nd chapter (lol). So what I ended up with is a skip to chapter 2 button and a complete different game style for the second part of the game.

  • Probably have to use a new save even though I tried to not have that be an issue. There is a cheat option still so if you have seen the older stuff it should only take 10 minutes max to get to the new stuff. If you are new to the game I would avoid using the cheats a lot as you will miss content that is RNG based.
  • ~45 videos and/or images added
  • ~7k words
  • 3 progression events
  • Progression in Mother, Father and Uncle events. (Nothing new for Brother this time as I’m trying to figure where to go next)

  • New save needed cause I kept having issues with variables and had to remove some
  • a very simple cheat menu exists on the sidebar (if you use it too much you will miss content)
  • the grind was reduced quite a bit
  • 80~ new videos & 5~ new images
  • According to Twine there was 10k words added
  • 3 new progression events
  • 6 new events overall
  • A hallway text line will now warn you that you have reached the end of the content, but there will probably be new house scenes to see still. They just won’t go any further than they currently do.
  • Cliché creepy Uncle with 3 progression scenes then a repeating scene.
  • All file names should now be the same in the folders as they are in the code, for anyone that had that as an issue (sorry if I missed any)
  • I attempted to remove more of the dead space between lines. There is still some of it but it looks a lot better now. I will still try to remove more in the next update.

First release – According to Twine there is 14,712 words, with 196 gifs and images in the game so far.

Developer Notes:

A month ago I didn’t even know that Twine/Sugarcube was how you made HTML games. So I haven’t had a lot of time to get better at anything involving coding. My main focus for this game and any future games will be the writing and variety of images. Hopefully this is a decent first release that will showcase what I am trying to accomplish.

There is no UI other than the basic Twine/Sugarcube one, and to be honest, there probably never will be anything advanced because I just don’t see the need for it. Also, art is something that I have negative ability in, so there will never be any title card or art that I made. Unless I get enough feedback that its needed, then I will only be able to handle that through outside sources.
