Donnyraves released a new game called Kama Card Collector and the version is 0.8.0. The game’s story is about What if the Kama Sutra was a card collecting and sorting game? Kama Card Collector. In the sea of recently released sort-slop genre I tried giving it a shot. the best parts from Tidy up the Arcane Library, Pokemon TCG Pocket and Powerwash Simulator. And obviously adult themed. Open source and modable with a companion app for creating new sets.
What’s new:
A shelf for your collections
- The title screen is new. Every collection stands on a shelf as a binder spine, in its own color, with its logo and how full it is. Point at one to see four of its cards, your progress per set and when you last played it. A collection you have never opened shows no spoilers.
More cards: Series 3 and 4
- Full Arts are now Series 3 and 4 (numbers 19 to 36). Mod packs can give every Full Art and every Ultra Rare its own picture and name, so one set holds up to 54 cards. Ultra Rares can get a finish (rainbow, diamond, swirl, …). Full Arts can be animated. There are now around 200 animations in the game.
Economy: less grind
- More Series 3-4 cards from booster packs.
- Dupes sell for more.
- Sets fill one after the other: half of the new cards come from the set closest to complete. You finish your first set sooner, and Card Flick opens sooner with it.
- The progression is like this:
- Complete 3 series 1 sets and you get access to series 2 cards.
- As soon as you mark your first duplicate card OR have less than 25% card remaining on the table you get access to the flea market, with booster packs.
- After your first Full Art pull, you can buy the Motion-Cam gadget to animate full art cards.
- When you complete your first series 1-2 set, you get access to the card flick minigame and basically start finishing your collection. There is no final reward for completing all sets.
Video cards: the Motion-Cam 2000
- If a pack comes with videos, the shop sells the Motion-Cam. Lay a Full Art in its tray: the camera records for a few seconds and gives the card back as a video card.
Binder organization
- The tabs stick now to the page as they would in real life. Series 3-4 are page later. If series 1-2 is full, it automatically flips to 3-4 for convenience. It’s not perfect, but I hated the many tabs.
Card Flick
- Slight rework of the flick mechanic. You could cheese it by not flicking.
- The curve does what the preview shows: flicking harder no longer tightens a bending Dart.
- Both cards in the shoebox? The one nearer the middle wins. No more endless dead heats.
- Opponents adapt: when you are in top form, the regulars sharpen up too, but not endlessly. Rubber band effect toned down.
- There are now video rewards after beating an opponent.
Mod Studio
- The card grid shows every card of a set, Series 1 to 4 plus the Ultra Rares. Full Arts and Ultra Rares without a picture of their own are marked “auto”.
- Full Arts can get a video, and Ultra Rares can get a finish.
- Opponents and the Coach now sit in the left column instead of a pop-up.
- Each opponent can have up to 12 win pictures or videos.
- Studio packs show their real pictures again instead of “Picture coming soon”. No need to export again.
Smoother and steadier
- Firefox: the table no longer redraws everything every frame. Resting and dragging are smooth again, and Card Flick no longer stutters.
- Black screen after a full set (the browser restarting its graphics): the game saves, reloads by itself and puts you back where you were.
Fixes:
- Broken or huge mod packs are turned away instead of crashing the tab.
- Old saves that no longer fit don’t block loading.
- A second finger on touch no longer makes cards jump.
- The game tells you when it cannot save.
- The dupe box no longer gets scooped up when you drag past it.
I am a designer first, not a coder. This is just a little passion project I was working on a couple weekends with claude opus. It took quite some effort to make it run smoothly with WebGL and PixiJS. However there is a performance mode available in the settings. It is mobile optimized for touch.
