Elephant in the room, yes, NoteTakeR is heavily inspired by games such as “TakenoteR” by HNStudy and “Bawdy Traditions” by Aedirn Studio. The goal of this project is to learn RPG Dev BAKIN, expanding on the NTR themes and tropes that made those games great, while adding original new ideas of my own that fans of this genre demand. This is a love letter, a fan game, and an original project wrapped into one. NTR IS NOT AVOIDABLE. If unavoidable NTR is not your thing, just move along… For everyone else, I hope you enjoy! <3
Performance Tips:
- This game uses RPG Developer BAKIN, which is a engine not widely used currently so it is hard to predict the scope and performance target needed for this type of game. There are HARD requirements for playing this game:
MINIMUM
- OS: Microsoft® Windows10 (64Bit), CPU: Intel Core I3-4340 or Better, Memory: 8 GB RAM, Graphics: Graphic card that works with OpenGL 4.4 or Higher.
RECOMMENDED
- OS: Windows10 (64bit), CPU: Core i5-8400/Ryzen 5 1500X or better, Memory: 16GB, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 1060 6GB/AMD Equivalent.
- IF you only have 4GB of VRAM, you can still run the game but if you have performance problems select HALF resolution:
- For those that meet the requirements, I recommend turning the shadows up to the highest preset. Performance hit is nil and looks a lot better
- (Unfortunately for now you have to do that each time you run the game…lol)
FALSE POSITIVE VIRUS SCAN ALERT:
- As with most indie engines out there, some people might encounter a flag or false positive virus flag when running the game. It’s a known issue, I’ve done all I can to prevent it… but as always, use caution, and trust your gut. The F95 staff do a great job already of making sure each game is virus free before it gets pushed to you all. If you get a false flag I would still like to know.
Feedback:
- Since this is a relatively new engine barely anyone has used before, please provide as much feedback as you feel comfortable with. Anything helps when the goal is learning, all I ask is to please keep it respectful and constructive.
ROADMAP:
- This game is meant to have a fairly quick dev cycle, that being said Patreon supporters will gain early access to new versions of the game, followed by a free public release a few weeks after. The map, NPC’s, game mechanics and UI will all be updated as development continues. Thank you for reading this!
Misc Info/FAQ:
- Why is this game just “TakenoteR at home”?
- I explicitly asked for HNStudy’s blessing to make this game, which I received. He’s a really cool guy, you should check out his games and Patreon.
Why am I only getting 60fps when I have a RTX 5090!?
- I hard capped the game at 60fps for testing.
Why is the world so empty feeling?
- I purposely included only essential NPC’s for testing. Need to see how the VRAM usage pans out on a large sample size before increasing it.
Why didn’t you just make this in RPGM?
- i wanted to learn a new engine and this one opens up much more possibilities for future development.
What happened to A New Semester!? Did you cancel it!?
- No! A New Semester is not cancelled. It’s a long story (See Patreon and/or Discord) but I am still committed to finishing it and excited to continue development soon.
Does this work on Linux?
- it isn’t natively supported but some awesome users found a way to make it work!
Is ONLY Windows supported?
- Currently the engine only natively supports Windows, however there is supposed to be a update by end of year that adds additional platform support.
