diogaoo Games released a new game called Project Alice and the version is Alpha 0.0.9. The game’s story is about This is a side-project I’ve been working on my free time for around one and a half years now. It’s a Top-Down RPG take on the Corruption theme, this time with a female protagonist and hand-drawn graphics, currently named as Project Alice.
v0.0.9
The game now features Alice’s Diary, a core system designed to connect all gameplay mechanics into a cohesive narrative.
Alice will now periodically record her thoughts. Each new entry reflects her current corruption, debuffs, personality traits e how many times the event occurred, taking into account everything she has done and experienced.
- Diary Points:A brand-new scoring system measures how well you performed during a run
- The score evaluates the frequency and importanceof your actions. Defeating many monsters in a short window yields high points, but repeating the exact same action or fighting against lower-level enemies will yield fewer points or none at all.
- Open chests, defeat enemies, complete quests, and take on bosses to keep the diary interesting and your score high.
- Difficulty customization also influences the points you receive: crank up the difficulty for higher scores per feat, or lower it to explore Alice’s world without headaches. Just don’t be surprised if your diary ends up a bit less interesting.
- Longer runs naturally build a richer diary and higher overall scores, but feel free to explore the world and take on stronger monsters. If you can’t defeat them, at least you might get a good story.
- You can keep track of your past runs scores, and always see your all-time high score saved.
- This is actually a placeholder object to give a temporary purpose to the scoring system, but it will have a much greater significance very soon
- New Enemies, New Equipment, New Maps, Buff, Personality Trait and more stuff were added.
Some important considerations:
- The user interface has been reorganized to accommodate the new diary system. It might look a bit “messy” in some places but this is temporary, the main focus right now is nailing down the core mechanics so they don’t cause architectural headaches later. Visual polish will come in due time.
- I’ve done my best to make diary entries write themselves naturally. Currently, most entries combine two distinct events, which can occasionally make the natural phrasing tricky. I’m actively evaluating the possibility of registering only a single event per entry and increase the frequency instead.
- I ran into a few minor setbacks in the last few hours regarding how entries are recorded in the diary, so don’t be surprised if there are some hotfixes really soon.
