BEFORE you download – please note that this is a very early version and for enthusiasts only. It still need like at least 2-3 month of work at least before I consider it to be a v0.01 alpha. You are warned!

As I said last time, this is a intermezzo project in-between Heroine Rumble 2 and eventual “HRT2”. There is a lot I want to do for “HRT2”, and working on a side-view brawler game allows me to focus on the out-of-combat systems first while reusing the Heroine Rumble 2 combat mechanics.
What this demo features is a side view dungeon brawler of sorts. While lots of things are still missing, it’s somewhat playable already, much more than the demo in last December.
- The character cards exported in HR2 works btw so if you want to start as a female character, import a character card.
- You should probably talk to the free recruit in the first room and add to party.
- You can open up the loadout screen via the buttons on the bottom right.
- There is a stair down somewhere on each level so the dungeon is technically infinite, but there probably isn’t much reason to go beyond level 2 or 3 at this point.
- You can only have a maximum of 3 members in your party, so 2 additional recruits.
- You can talk to existing recruits and fire them.
- Some randomly generated characters are hostile.
- Be careful attacking neutral characters, unless that is what you want to do.
- Only the healing potion and equipment have uses at the moment, probably should sell the materials and trophies to vendors when you see them.
- You do get EXP by defeating foes, so check the loadout screen to level up occasionally. This is a very last minute addition so there isn’t any UI to indicate EXP gain.
Here is a partial changelog of gameplay changes.
Brawler:
- Ending grab with guard keys will always throw the target even when no directional keys is pressed
- Added reversal-attempts mechanic: when grabbed, pressing attack button (new change) instead of other ones you will enter a reversal attempt instead of just escape
- During reversal attempt, at end of the grab, there is a about 50/50 chance you either reverse the grab or the attacker gets a free renewal
- It is now more difficult to interrupt an existing grab via damage, especially if the grab attacker has higher staggerClass
- Reduced the number of targets hit by basicAttacks to 1
- Removed character-character collision because it interacts badly with the forced side-facing
- Outfit damage is much higher
Misc:
- During trading, item cost now displays the sale cost instead of base cost
- Characters with no grabs defined (from old exported char cards for example) now selects from random grabs instead of instantly ending grab
- Added mechanic to support instantly carrying characters placed onto devices without having to grab them first
- Fixed game crash when unit attacks with empty .basicAttacks in their moveset. (Only through modding)
- Fixed “grab_-1_grab_reversal_ground_to_ground” using incorrect anim id so a larger character reversing on smaller character was softlocking the grab
- Removed some unused unit stats from CATC such as .initiative
