v1.3
Two New Guardians
- Arabella, the Gaslit Aristocrat, keeps an eternal midnight in a manor where the clocks stopped long ago. She never once says what she means — and she expects you to figure it out anyway.
- Adaeze, Daughter of the Ancient Forest, has never left her sacred grove, yet has seen more of the world through its roots than most travelers see in a lifetime. The bioluminescent rivers brighten when she approves.
- That brings the roster to ten guardians and eighty trials, each with a full introduction, ending, and world to navigate.
The Guardians Remember You Now
This is the heart of 1.3. The visual novel is no longer a straight line.
- Branching dialogue. After each trial, the guardian speaks — and you answer. Every reply is either bold or tender, and she responds in kind.
- Three endings per guardian. Walk the bold path and one hidden scene opens. Walk the tender path and another. Balance both, and a third — reserved for those the guardian cannot quite categorize — reveals itself.
- A running history log. Reread every line she has said to you, per guardian, at any time — even mid-scene.
- Rewritten throughout. Every scene has been rewritten longer and in each guardian’s own voice, with auto-advance and adjustable text speed for how you like to read.
A New Trial: Gem Swap
- The old code-breaker has been retired. In its place, Gem Swap — a match-three built for feel: gems fall with weight, matches cascade into combos that multiply your score, and every clear pops with light and sound.
The Veil, Reimagined
- The opening prologue is now a self-playing cinematic — slow drifting camera over the cosmic art, letterboxed, with drifting motes of light and text that arrives line by line.
Beyond it, nearly every screen was rebuilt:
- Character select and the guardian hub now flow as winding paths rather than plain lists.
- The hub shows your bold/tender balance and a reward track — 18★ for a bonus scene, 24★ for the final scene and its video.
- The gallery gained a guardian jump-bar for faster browsing.
- A Continue button on the title drops you straight back where you left off.
- Smooth fade transitions everywhere.
How It Feels to Play
The trials hit harder now.
- Lives are hearts — they shatter when you lose one, and the screen shakes with the hit.
- The timer is a ring that shifts green to amber to red, with rising ticks in the final seconds and a danger glow on your last heart.
- “Ready… Go!” before the fast trials, a CLEAR flourish on victory, and a red beat on defeat.
- Pause anywhere with Esc, full keyboard support, best-score shown per trial, combo streaks, and a Next Trial shortcut after every unlock.
- Simon now plays real musical notes, and each guardian’s world shifts with the time of day.
Quality of Life
- A proper Options panel arrives with separate Music and Sound volume, text-speed control, and — by request — save export and import, so your progress travels with you between devices and updates.
Continuity & Fixes
- Vaelith’s world has been reworked from the deep underground into a moonlit Shadow Wood, and every guardian’s writing received a continuity pass — names, worlds, and small details brought into line across all ten.
- The final-scene videos are now seamless looping animations — a brand-new touch. Instead of playing once and freezing on the last frame, each reward now breathes and loops, on and on, the way it always should have.
