Xim Games released a new game called Within the Branches and the version is Act 1 0.1.0. The game’s story is about It’s a peaceful life, for those who worship Kaya, around the base of the great tree. The holy lands provide great abundance to the faithful. Great abundance for the good, chaste people of Fanora, under the wise and benevolent guidance of the church. Nothing truly bad could ever happen in such a place… Right

New content:
- 12 New maps of varying sizes and complexities.
- New sex scene (Abby).
Changed content:
- Some dialogue in various places.
- Conversation with the red hair guy at the campfire outside the capital is now branching.
- Changed main font to default RPGM font. Using two different fonts was causing problems I couldn’t figure out how to fix.
New mechanics:
- Date and time system, along with the introduction of the Fanoran year. 360 days, 10 months, 36 days per month. You’re on the clock now, tick tock.
- Hunger, Thirst, Exhaustion. Surviving in a world where everyone hates you is something you need to work for.
- Journal system including mouse support! It’s mostly to give you a record/hint of what to do next, and will act as a quest log moving into the future as the game becomes more open and exploratory. Expect some of the entries to be a bit on-the-nose. Sorry it’s a bit ugly, I’m not sure how to code it to adjust entry placement based on entry size. Imo don’t read it unless you’re stuck or forgot what quests you have active. When a quest is complete all of its entries will be removed, maybe I’ll add a completed quests section later.
- Completely reworked the text system to store the text externally, this makes a bunch of stuff easier, such as branching dialogue, and potential future translation. Probably gonna be some out of place or missing text, let me know if you find some please.
- Gallery of erotic memories is now independent of the book in the town hall upstairs, you’ll receive an item to call it from anywhere late in the prologue. Possibly a lil buggy, let me know if it causes any problems.
Fixes:
- Prevented player from entering town hall after retrieving the camping kit (sequence break, caused a freeze).
- Properly fixed lighting issue in smithy.
- Several events will now save their location when reloading a save.
- Fixed issue with calculating Abigail’s relationship to Kern in final scene of prologue.
- Fixed image remaining on screen during Abby date 2 if chosen certain dialogue options and story paths.
- Fixed some time of day inconsistencies during Abby’s 2nd date down certain dialogue paths.
- Fixed some broken branches in the gallery scene for “Abigail’s Comfort” when a certain switch wasn’t active.
- Fixed a bug where you could get stuck in Abby’s room after rejecting her.
- Some typos.
- Other minor stuff.
Notes:
- Critical bug found corrupting the value of Abigail’s relationship to Kern in the final prologue scene. It’s alright though because if you made an end of prologue save file it won’t load now anyways. You’ll have to load a save from before the final prologue scene.
- I’ve got two different systems of scene-displaying in the game right now. Large and small text boxes. I would appreciate feedback on which you prefer and why!
This game is very text-based, and there are no erotic images, only text. If you don’t like reading, this isn’t for you. The prologue is relatively tame compared to what’s to come, I hope you’ll stay with me for this… journey.
